Every person has a unique  reason for attending counselling. This may be connected to present-day personal matters or work-related problems. Sometimes the difficulties may date back to earlier, distressing events which continue to have a negative impact on you, or on your relationships. I use an Integrative Approach with a therapy that fits the individual.

Counselling provides time out removed from family and friends to explore issues in a warm, safe, non-judging environment. Person Centred Therapy outlines that we have the ability and resources to live life to our full potential. In the counselling room you will experience empathy, respect, and unconditional positive regard. Life scripts can be determined by environmental factors. In the counselling room experiencing a sense of worth where you can reconnect with your value base providing an increased self-esteem and the ability to live life.

 

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

 

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) explores the relationship between our feelings, thoughts, behaviour and physiological responses in specific situations. By identifying, naming and challenging our self belief we can change our negative thinking with more realistic rational thoughts, behaviour and emotions.

By forming a therapeutic relationship in therapy we will work collaboratively in exploring your issues or concerns providing an understanding of your self. This can provide an increased self esteem and begin to set achievable goals. Therapy will support you throughout this process helping you to evaluate situations now and independent from counselling. This leads to personal development providing an understanding of self leading to an increased self esteem. You will effectively learn to become your own counsellor.
